The auto-restock feels a bit clunky, being wasted about half

It would be really cool if it interacted with Visible Desires, meaning it'll auto-restock everything you can see above cats in the order they arrive. Possibly customizable up to how many you have unlocked so you don't restock too much and run out of hearts.

Either that or make it fill up and wait for the next order, half my auto-restocks are wasted because the next cat is still moving into position.

Agreed. Could also make it an upgradeable thing so the way it is now is the default crappy one and you can upgrade it so it's better!

The next game I make like this will be more about player skill / preparing for future orders though. The mechanics got a bit muddied along the way and I didn't have a solid idea of what it should be.

Great game. Love cats coffee and upgrades and this has all of them. I played this game for about 30 minutes before having the slightest clue what was going on because itch.io puts these little floating tags on the screen that were blocking the numbers on the inventory. So the restock system was a complete mystery to me. I'm like why do we have to auto stock to restock every time we go to make a coffee we restock first? Then finally I saw the numbers through the tags.  Every game on itch.io has a critical need of a full screen option. (it's the only way to get the tags to go away and stop blocking the screen) I really like your upgrade system because it has a certain type of variety to it that makes upgrade games a lot of fun and not everyone who makes upgrade games gets that.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still a noob when it comes to Itch pitfalls like that, so it's good to know for the future.

Glad you liked the upgrades! I agree, games with a variety of upgrades are more interesting because it provides more of a strategy element (not that it matters much in the scope of this little game). To me, the more variables to tweak, the better.

I played for a couple hours after that. Mostly to completion. It's fun. If you put it on Steam the only suggestion I'd have is a toggleable 30 second timer in the upgrade menu that allows for autoruns or auto start the next day. I think it will get better ratings that way. The blue cats were my favorite. Both of them.

This is a fun game. I wanted to get all my stats full, but impatient cats have already  been the bane of my existence and this game is just tipping the scales. I should have just everything into automation and I could have written this ages ago.

Cute and silly game in equal parts. Well done. Meow.

Or as as we say in China, Miao.

Thanks!

The balancing is definitely something that could be improved. The upgrade progression is pretty arbitrary currently. If I come back to this, I'd probably start from scratch with the knowledge I gained tbh, but I'd add some more skill elements to make the gameplay more engaging *before* you get full automation and go into idle mode. Then expand the automation with the ability to look ahead and restock for the next few customers instead of the current one.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!
